About Us

As you may have gathered already, I am no pro at this blogging malarky, there is no sponsored content ( yet, who says no to free things) and certainly no ‘insta-worthy’ carefully curated life here. I’ll be sharing all the good, bad and ugly that comes with hiking with a baby.

I’m Cat, a mum to a 14 month of baby boy ( I promise i will only count in months until he is 2 years old). I can’t promise there won’t be spelling and grammar issues as i blurt everything out onto a page ( so please don’t come for me grammar police.)

I have always loved to walk and hike, a love I gained from my own mum, who still puts up with my ever growing brood that now joins us (I’m counting Fitz, my 3 year old Golden Retriever as my first child) on our walking trips.

What started as walks after school gossiping about my latest crush eventually led to 1 week each year blocked out and booked for a ‘walking holiday’ where we would aim for 10 – 15 miles a day in a different part of the UK. (Confession time – we use to book into a luxury spa hotel so we could recover from a hard days hike by soaking in a hot tub.) We were not usually the most favoured hotel guests lugging wet kit and muddy boots through shiny lobbies each morning.

Fitz joining the family had us exchange shiny hotels for Air B n B’s and dog friendly cottages and now this year the arrival of Little Man has my accommodation search questioning whether there are stair gates and coffee tables with sharp edges. ( If you haven’t guessed yet, this is not a camping type walking blog.)

Occasionally I’ve made it out of the UK to hike, with a few particular favourites hikes across the States I will likely document in more detail, including Half Dome in Yosemite ( don’t take a baby) , Angels Landing in Zion National Park , Bryce National Park and the Grand Canyon National Park ( all whilst pregnant – probably a smart idea). Those will be nostalgic posts as those types of trips are probably off the cards for a little while for me, but for now I will continue to throw Little Man in his carrier every day; for dog walks, longer walks across Sussex, England where we live and as many longer trips I can manage around work, nursery and everything else!

I will also provide my opinions on all things walking with babies, including carrier reviews, when I use different types of carriers and anything else that might feel relevant.

Welcome to the chaos
